Gregg Perry has for more than
twenty years, produced 18th century period replicas, notably William
Savery Chippendale chairs and settees, Philadelphia Tall Case
Clocks, classic high style country case pieces and has reproduced
the Madame Pompadour Highboy that is in the Metropolitan Museum of
Art's permandant collection. In addition he has produced
multifaceted pieces addressing his clients individual needs.
His furniture can be found
throughout the United States, from mansions to modest homes
where the homeowner has saved many years to purchase one of Mr.
Perry's creations. He has worked along designers to form
an ambiance customized to the demands of a particular client and
he has also fulfilled the whims of those infatuated with wood,
especially for the wood of Mr. Perry's preference; Tiger Maple -
Fashioning a Tiger Maple gavel for a judge, a Birdseye Maple
lectern for a classical musician, just to name a few, with the
intent of adapting classical styles for modern usage.
Although his studio had employed
many craftsmen over the years he eventually chose to streamline
his production by working with a very few highly qualified
employees. Unlike other artisans in his profession, Mr.
Perry has strived to be the total craftsman; choosing his
timber, designing and performing all types of joinery by hand
and with machines as well as carving, turning, coloring , and
finishing. |
