Chippendale tiger-maple Marlborough-foot post bed with wheat-carved reeded posts, Philadelphia, circa 1780.

This rare Chippendale form of curvaceously turned posts developing out stately Marlborough feet, graces the eye with voluptuous reeding culminating in exquisitely carved flame finials. The sinuous flow frames the center drape and swag wheat motif carving. Although other headboard designs are available this example replicates an original. Custom shell bed bolt covers offer another revealing detail to these scarce beauties.
